Our Founder
Our Founder
Hi, I’m McKenna! I’m a licensed elementary teacher with training in the Orton-Gillingham approach and READ Act certification. I created Meek & Meadow Literacy because I believe every child deserves the chance to feel confident as a reader.
With years of classroom experience, I’ve seen how much of a difference the right support can make. That’s why I use structured, research-based methods, rooted in the Science of Reading, while also keeping lessons engaging, playful, and tailored to each child’s needs. My goal is not only to help students grow as readers and writers, but also to empower families with the tools and understanding to support learning at home.
At Meek & Meadow Literacy, you can trust that your child is getting instruction that’s both effective and encouraging. I’m passionate about building strong foundations, celebrating progress, and helping children discover the confidence that comes when literacy finally “clicks.”

I help kids build confidence by making learning feel safe, predictable, and engaging. Each session follows the same routine, so your child doesn’t have to guess what’s coming next—they can focus on learning. We celebrate progress every time we meet, which helps them recognize how much they’re growing. Lessons are playful and interactive, so learning feels enjoyable and motivating rather than like constant testing. And because every child is different, I adjust each session based on how your child is doing that day, making sure they feel supported and successful.

My approach blends proven, research-backed methods with a warm, child-centered focus. Each lesson follows a predictable routine that helps your child feel secure, while also being playful and engaging so they enjoy learning. Through ongoing progress monitoring, I make sure every minute of our time together is purposeful and focused on what will help your child grow most. We follow a clear scope and sequence, while also adapting to your child’s unique needs each day. I partner closely with families and teachers so everyone is working together, and I’ll keep you updated along the way, helping you feel confident and supported in your child’s journey.

Yes! Many of the students I work with either have a formal dyslexia diagnosis or show characteristics of dyslexia, as well as other learning differences. I know that every child’s journey looks a little different, which is why I partner closely with families, teachers, and specialists to make sure we are all aligned in supporting your child. I use the Orton-Gillingham approach because it is a structured, research-based method proven to support students with dyslexia. To help remove obstacles, I follow a consistent routine each session so students don’t have to spend mental energy wondering what will happen next. Instead, they can use that energy to focus on their learning.
