session to see if it’s the right fit!

Initial Assessments ranging from $75-$150

Every tutoring journey at Meek & Meadow starts with an initial assessment session. This is our chance to see if this structure of learning feels like a good fit for your child and to make sure they feel excited about their learning from the start. We’ll create their very own virtual classroom, choose a class pet, and play a variety of fun literacy games to help me assess their skills. You can expect plenty of giggles as I get to know your child and learn more about their reading strengths and needs.

Session Lengths

Different students thrive with different schedules. Explore the benefits and considerations of various session lengths and frequencies, so that you can find the balance that maximizes progress while fitting your child’s needs and your family’s schedule.

  • Perfect for preschoolers and kindergarteners who are just beginning their learning journey. Shorter sessions allow younger children, especially online learners, to stay engaged without feeling overwhelmed. Lessons are filled with play-based activities that build early literacy skills while keeping learning fun and manageable for little attention spans.

  • Ideal for busy families and children who can focus for longer stretches. This option works well for students needing moderate literacy support, giving us time to build on strengths, practice skills, and still leave room for interactive activities. Sessions are purposeful and flexible, designed to meet your child’s needs while fitting into your family’s schedule.

  • Designed for students who need more focused intervention. These sessions provide the time and intensity needed to target key literacy skills with care and consistency. With a balance of explicit instruction and interactive practice, this option ensures your child gets the deeper support they need to make meaningful progress.

FAQ

  • Tutoring may be the right fit for your child if they are:

    • Working below grade level and need extra support to catch up

    • Thriving best with one-on-one attention

    • Missing some foundational literacy skills (letters, sounds, phonological awareness, etc.)

    • Finding reading to be a challenge or slow to progress

    • Scoring lower than expected on academic assessments

    • Needing homeschool instructional support

    • Struggling to gain confidence in learning how to read

    • Feeling frustrated or discouraged with reading

  • Many parents hope their child will simply grow out of reading struggles with time, but unfortunately, that’s not how reading works. Unlike speaking, reading isn’t a skill the brain develops naturally on its own. If your child is having difficulty, it usually means some foundational skills are missing, and without the right support, those gaps often become bigger and harder to close.

The numbers speak for themselves: 1 in 3 children start kindergarten without the skills they need to begin learning to read, and by fourth grade, about 66% of students are not reading at grade level.

The good news is that early, targeted support changes everything. With the right instruction, children can strengthen those early skills, gain confidence, and build the solid foundation they need to thrive as lifelong readers.

  • Tutoring is designed to meet your child right where they are and strengthen the skills that matter most for their growth. Depending on your child’s age and needs, this may include:

    • Reading growth & confidence

    • Spelling development

    • Writing support

    • Kindergarten readiness skills

    • Foundations of early literacy

    • Support with IEP goals

    • Homeschool literacy guidance

Each lesson is tailored to your child’s unique learning profile, so the time we spend together is focused, meaningful, and directly connected to their next steps in learning.

  • Every child’s reading journey looks a little different, and progress happens at their own pace. During tutoring, I meet your child right where they are, focusing on the specific skills they need to grow. Along the way, we build confidence, celebrate small wins, and equip them with tools and strategies that set them up for long-term success as a reader. Growth may look different for each child, but with consistent support, you’ll begin to see steady progress and a growing love for reading.
